‘LIVE LIFE TO TEARS’

Im a fan of fags, but cigarettes are fucking horrible.

5 Jun

I quit smoking (tobacco) about 20 a days, the 3 days of withdrawal were absolutely horrible but but worth it. I now take up my place as a righteous clean lunged high horsed bastard. Well, only to the extent i hope is motivational to my friends and family.

Something that helped me alot to quit was linking in the attempt to my politics. Cigarette companies are arsehole rich bastards profiting off the deaths of millions – without even getting them high. Your giving loads of extra tax to a government that will make nukes and bombs from it, and hustle into their own pockets through expenses and letting a drug rule your life for the privilege of killing yourself. No Gods. No Masters should include lady nicotine too!

Not to mention the practical advantages of a healthy respiratory system on anticapitalist and antifascist actions!

Which comes to my anecdotal observation that a much greater proportion of the ‘activist’ population are smokers compared to the general population. This seems strange, but is in other ways not so surprising. Disagreement with the system and certain drug dependency seem to be like peas in a pod. I wonder how much ketamine and cannabis among other things harms the formation of a more organised and motivated anticapitalist movement in this country. Indeed, all countries.

More on this later x

ALARM – a work in progress

20 Jun

Ive been a lazy bastard the last few weeks and i havent been at the main or local alarm meetings – we’ll actually i have been very busy but..so is so.

Been keeping up to date with the minutes, and watching the discussion email thread discend into stupid arguments and some peoples withdrawl from the group (though i believe they intend to maintain a working relationship – so i dont really understand the need to leave the group?) over some really silly small shit, i read it all after it happened and it made for some absurd and depressing reading. The meeting on sunday and hanging round at LARC raise my spirits back to normal levels, ive mentionedbefore ive never been in a group before and am trepadatious about dumb infighting over the ‘5% we disagree about’ or logistics so i wasnt sure if this would set off some odd chain reaction, but though the meeting was smaller, it was much more buisness like (oh no soon we will turn into bankers :@) and completely good natured, i also got to melt at and admire a beautifull baby girl(not slang). Its a work in progress, and it seems to me progress is being made as we flesh the exacts of alarm out, and local groups get their names out and bring some people into the fold. All good.

Oh and, im new to this shit, so i dont know if it was innapropriate talking so frankly about events with people, let me know if it is, im not sure if i will care – i dont mean to be facetious but im very intolerant of intolerance especially if its detrimental to the revolution, we need to be disciplined (relativley, im not talkin uniforms here) if we are going to really get anywhere, and its sorta embaressin to see conflicts between adults who hold they know the truth as to how the world should be, that remind me of petty disputes and falling outs among kids round here. Look at the SWP, we pretty much reckon theyre canniving idiots who are wrong in their political outlook, and despite stupid divisions and blardeyblahblah they still have alot of ‘members’ and have their name out there on loads of shit – why? their snakey, canniving ways certainly help, but thats only a part of the reason for their (at least numerical) sucess. Its cause they are disciplined, theyre out there, handing out flyers, badgering people, doing this that and the blah and they seem to be able to mobilize alot of people to do this boring shit – theyre the first experience of radical politics for most people. Im not callin anarchists as a whole undisciplined because they are not and there are alot out there doin alot of work, the ‘boring’ stuff (Which i thinks pretty fun actually), puttin in the hours seperate of smashing banks and graffing at night or whatnot.

All i know is, when i talk to people about anarchist ideas, they are almost always very receptive and intrested – i dont know if this is strictly a very recent trend, but whether or not it is, i firmly believe our main priority needs to be just getting our ideas out, on the internet and on the street, getting out there handing flyers out, putting posters and stickers up, merging your daily routine with spreading our ideas – take some flyers with you on your way to the newsagent, try to talk to someone at the bus stop about it – whatever. Im sure at the very least there must be a million peopel in london that alraedy agree funementally with our ideasor at the very least share our diagnosis of the problem – at the VERY least, i reckon this by the proportion of people in the local area (bermondsey/walworth/peckham) that have responded positivley when ive talked to them.

Sooo…get on your bike and enlarge the family! Its easier and funner than you think!

Leaving official education and making the jump into that real world

20 Jun

Its been a while since my last post, reviewing of comments and all since in a-level land its exam time!

This wednesday i finish my exams, and as soon as possible i will be working full time as a labourer on building sites or doing landscape gardening – the ideas that i get stronger and can freestyle all day to beats in headphones/on the radio all day and at the end of the week get paid for all this personal advancement..

I feel as though im looking forwards to freedom, and in many ways i am – the freedom that comes with having my own money in my pocket, having my own place and being able to pursue my own education and music career (judging on the state of the industry for non-capitalist/commercial hip hop vocation might be a better term).

That seems like a damn lot of freedom, and it will be. But i wonder how much freedom i am trading for it? I will be paying for my own food, gas and electricity, rent and all, il be going from a day of broken up lessons or bunking to solid work that i really cant and wont bunk, a college place was also garunteed whereas a job certainly isnt, i’ll have to do my own clothes washing and (absurdly small amounts of) ironing – i’ve already taken over the rest of the chores. I have the option of squatting, which i  probably will be till me and my mates have enough money to get a place, in the long term this would seem to free me in some ways – rents free, can (and have to) move around alot blardey blah – but i’ve been warned that ‘squatting becomes your life’, so it seems to limit your freedom as much as it does increase it. Oh the conundrums of life and wotnot. Some of these things may be frivolous, its all conjecture – i dont know what this shits gonna be like.

Ah well, its coming, im looking forwards to it, ive checked all the boxes of manhood now, actually like the taste of beer, man-sized, tatoo, voiced and walking – sometimes smelling. All i need now is harder stuble and 2 more days. I read like a bit of a cliche, fuck it, i style that out.

Sorry about the babbling musings, just remembered one of my philosophy exam question today was about how far or at all the state  should be able to limit our individual liberty – as you can imagine i had a bit of a field day with that one. Forget this stuff is supposed to be intresting, maybe it is, in a slightly mundane way – oh well its better than some abstract theorising chokabloc with jargon.

The All London Anarchist Revolutionary Movement (ALARM) and getting out of the activist ghetto into the real ghettos

23 May

Its been a while since i updated this, which doesn’t matter of course because nobody reads this yet. With all of the changes in the political landscape going on and my getting involved in my first organization i feel compelled to get this shit started.

As you may of may not know, two weeks ago the first meeting was held of a new london-wide anarchist organization called ALARM. It is split into sub-groups by region/borough/area (depending on the amount of activists in each area) and will operate both in these groups and as a london-wide organisation. A dedicated website, forum and blogs from different boroughs will be up on the interwebz soon. For those interested you can find the minutes of the first meeting here. I think there are some minor corrections needed to be done to those minutes and i will post a corrected one when i get my hands one one. CAMDEN ALARM also posted proposals for last meeting, much of which was accepted but is up for further discussion and revision as we continue to establish the group. Things aren’t set in stone yet, so dont be put off if you have some disagreements, there’s still alot to be fleshed out.

Well, thats the news, heres my take on it: The first two meetings and my conversations with other anarchos afterwards have left me madly enthusiastic and simply put, reassured. Lurking around libcom and the comments on anarchist blogs for a long while put me off getting involved in organisations or joining conversations because of the bitchiness and sectarianism i saw (i’ll leave it there, and dedicate a post to this sheet another time). ALARM seems free of this bullshit, thank god. Why am i enthusiastic? Well, partially because of the amicableness (is that a word?) but mostly because the group is genuinely geared toward radicalising the wider population and spreading our ideas at a time where the population is actually very receptive to our ideas (at least in inner city working class areas, where i live and have been freelance propagandizing for a while).

I really think this group can mark an exodus from the ‘activist ghetto’ into the real ghettos and a break from more self-indulgent actions to really getting involved in agitation and education in the community. Something that has been briefly discussed at meetings and i am passionately enthusiastic about (theres that enthusiasm again) is the use of music and raves to engage with the wider community, particularly working and middle class kids. As a rapper myself im particularly intrested in this, and have proposed a youtube channel equivalent to SBTV (a uk hip hop/rap promotion channel) pumping out political music, seeing as musicians area always looking for a platform to get there shit out i think this should be pretty easy to set up. Other members of the group know and have worked with uk hip hop heads, and i know Lowkey and Akala (listen to these tracks) are already involved in the current wider political opposition so this venture seems very promising.

This sort of culture jamming, combined with spreading propaganda and literature through working class areas as well as offering actual support to those hard off should really mean we can make a difference, and spread our ideas in a time where all other ideologies seem pretty motherfucking bankrupt.

Sorry for the waffling and watnot, im still starting out and im dehydrated, allow me

A hello and small intro

22 Feb

Hello reader!

This site is intresting! (will be)

Hopefully i’ve grabbed your attention now..

I am an 18 year old man (resisting urge to qualify that as young man for some reason), a hip hop mc, philosopher (if that sounds arrogant to you its only because you have a snobish idea of what it is to be a philosopher) and apparently like using brackets.  Im also many other things like everyone is but i think they sum it up well – this blog isnt primarily about me or wanking off my ego so i wont ramble any more than i already am.

This is about me getting my ideas out there aswell as looking at other peoples, it will also be a bit of a propoganda machine – all the political parties have thier own, we need ours too.

You will see what i meann.
